Thanks, Godfrey. It's all reflections along with whatever was on the other side of the store window. I'm not clever enough to devise an appropriate overlay from scratch, so I leave it to chance and process the better combinations using Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro to make everything seem to be in the same space.

Re: Fun with Leica X (all models)

I was lucky to attend a lecture at the Cantor Museum addressing an exhibit of photos by Robert Frank this past Thursday evening. I was surprised and delighted when Robert Frank himself, just a few days after having turned ninety, was introduced and took the lectern. Afterwards, I had a moment to say hello and snapped a couple of photos.

This is my favorite of the photos. There were just a few as a lot of people were crowding around to speak with him.

Re: Fun with Leica X (all models)

    Happy New Year!

Just back from my holiday trip to Tijuana. The only camera I brought along was the X (well, the iPhone 4S and iPad mini were there too). So I sorted through the exposures and pulled out about 70 that my partner, his family and some friends might enjoy.

For my own amusement, I tossed them into a slide show. Nothing here of great art, and all just about straight out of the camera JPEGs, but I thought some might enjoy them.

    enjoy,

    Leica X : ISO 200 @ f/4 @ 1/250

I liked how the feel of the image changed in the transition from monochrome to color for these two. Interested to hear other folks' comments.
Note: If you have a large screen and click on the images, you'll see them at native resolution on Flickr (1600 pixels wide). They look better that way.

Re: Fun with Leica X (all models)

    Thanks Godfrey

So far so good, so much lighter than I expected.. or from reading specs.
~480g X113 vs ~680g for my A7s+FE35 feels much lighter than the math would imply!

Got a Toshiba FlashAir card for quick on-the-go review&posting after seeing mixed reviews on EyeFi and noticing Leica supports FlashAir (it's a menu option on X113).. works well enough compared to the built in WiFi on Sony cameras, though I'm using PhotoSync instead of Toshiba's own app.

I did have one disconcerting incident that I hope does not repeat - the camera got stuck in C mode despite the dial being in S. Repeated power cycles and removal of battery did not resolve, had to do a factory settings reset via menu to clear it out. I remember older M8/M9 series having OFF/S/C dial issues... would have hoped German engineering had this problem solved by now....

Re: Fun with Leica X (all models)

    Question re the EVF?

I have the X-Vario, and more recently the T. Like them both, but can't decide which will go, and which will stay (I figured I'd try them both and keep the one I enjoy the most).
    No decision yet!!!

EVF2 I picked up for the X-V, and what a god-send, really is worth the money (to me, anyway). I got the VisoFlex with the T, and this was partly the reason I pushed the boat out for the EVF2, and I am glad I did.

Agreed, let's keep the thread rolling.

Re: Fun with Leica X (all models)

These were shot couple of weeks ago in city of Tartu in Estonia. All shot with Leica X typ 113. I actually played around with LR6 with these and tried to give them a sort of grainy filmy look.

My personal favorite is the 2nd last one with the group of kids. They were actually hearing impaired and posed for the shot "ex tempore", so I didn't ask them to do anything. They just noticed I was taking a shot and decided to strike a pose.

I saw them again couple of minutes later and waved them to come over and showed the photo from the X113 screen. They seemed to like it as well and laughed at their own expression. It was a nice moment.

The short haired guy in couple of photos is a colleague & friend Leica afficionado. I 100% blame him for my like of Leica and Apple products.. He was shooting with a Leica IIIf and a 50/1.5 Leica LTM lens of similar vintage.
