Folks,
Over time I have read about a range of aspects of technical cameras. Today I realised that I actually don't know how photographers of this type of camera set focus at a time when the likes of the Leica Disto was not available to purchase and captured photos could not be reviewed instantly. In other words, many years ago.
I guess one could rack focus to infinity (assuming MF lenses have a hard stop at infinity) and then stop down to an aperture that, from experience, the photographer knows will bring the composition within depth of field. In other words, the so-called infinity focus method.
Is this how focus is set? If not, how is it?
