Copal Press shutter and Phase Backs = errors?

Using my Phase 180 back more and more with my tech camera.
With a Kapture cable and regular copal #0 everything works well, but when I use a copal press shutter, I get occasional "Black Reference" errors at slower shutter speeds.
Is the sync signal from a copal PRESS shutter different?
