The D-LUX 2 cost more than the D-LUX 3. IIRC, my dad paid about $800 for his. The other good thing about buying the Leica version is that the resale value tends to be pretty good. That doesn't make up for the cost difference, but it narrows the gap.extra warranty. some design. i bought the d-lux 2 instead of the lx1 and i wouldn't pay the extra again.
The real Leica can be seen in the much higher pricing, the missing handgrip and the overcharging for accessories (like 70€ for the handgrip ). Aside from that, the firmware will probably have minor differences for JPGs and of course you have the snob value of the "red dot" which will keep the re-sale value slightly higher. David,The D-Lux 4 comes with Capture One v4.1, the panasonic does not. Additionally, the RAW files are different. C1 will read and convert the D-Lux 4 RAW file, but will not recognize the Pana file (and never will).
