Spur of the moment yesterday, I went to the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibit at the San Jose Museum of Art. (http://www.sjmusart.org/ for museum info.) The exhibit focuses on Mapplethorpe's work in portraiture.
Well worth the $8 ticket. There are about 60 odd superbly printed photographs to enjoy, often with a laughably heavy-handed museum caption by their side. In most cases, it's best to ignore the captions ... the photos are stunning and speak for themselves.
I'll probably go back again. It's worth visiting a couple of times.
