Sanne de Wilde visited the island and wrote an article for the Guardian:
https://www.theguardian.com/artandd...island-of-the-colourblind-pingelap-micronesia
You might recall that the island was first described about 15 years ago by Oliver Sacks. A small population, a genetic mutation and inbreeding led to a place where 10% of the people are 'colour blind'.
The article is headed by one of the author's photographs; it is a false-colour IR view of one of the islands, taken, she said, "with a Nikon fitted with an infrared lens and a colour filter". Some of the comments btl are very Guardianista; throw vitriol first, think later.
One commentator found a video on the Nikon-tutorials website (you might have to expand one of the comment threads to find it):
Getting ?That Shot? | Exploring the ?Island of the Colour Blind? with Sanne De Wilde – Nikon D700 model with a modified infrared sensor | NIKON-TUTORIALS
This does explain how she took the image (and it wasn't with an "infrared lens").
