Fun with Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f1.8

Actually, I don't have any photos to post because I didn't make it down to the Camera store to pick it up! It's there. I'll get it tomorrow. Somebody must have picked their's up.

    Cheers, Matt

Bart: I don't understand why my camera store, way out here got one? Amazon announced a big delay? Well, I'm not complaining. I'll go down at lunch and pick it up.

Mike: You should have got that one you saw!

Here's a shot from a camera show in early June that I took with my E-M5.

Looking forward to your images Matt. Personally I just felt it was too long for the type of stuff I like to shoot. Added to which she would have killed me

Re: Fun with Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f1.8

Got mine last week, shot a ton of pics at the Ragnar Relay in Minnesota/Wisconsin this weekend. I love this lens! Original size jpgs are on my flickr. Almost every pic was with the Olympus 75mm at 1.8, except a few that were taken with my Panasonic 14-42. I think my cheap ND filter tinted those blue. I had a tiffen ND filter on the Olympus 75mm and didn't notice any discoloring. These are all the Oly 75mm:

I haven't posted anything with the lens yet but it does a really great job. It can handle fairly complex backgrounds without making a mess of the bokeh. And yes portraits at f1.8 look really good.

So learning patience is a wholesome virtue and I should be grateful to Olympus for the lesson but my goodness it seems like this lens is taking a long time to arrive.

A promo picture I took with my GH2 and Olympus 75mm 1.8 after shooting a Hunger Games Parody Video today.

Shutter speed 250, 1.8, ISO 1600 (had to up the shutter speed, I was handheld and tired, which was giving me blurry pics)

Totally love that heat mirage. That's gotta say something about the lens (and the photographer!).

Re: Fun with Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f1.8

Just got this lens. I was really concerned that I made a mistake and should have gone with the zoom.

Then I looked at the results. Did anyone mention that this is a sharp lens? Like Zeiss prime sharp? Always difficult to appreciate on these Web versions, but here are some from today.

At f/1.8, I get good separation between the picture on the wall and my wife.

At 100%, you can see the threads in the fabric covering part of this structure. This is the scaffolding at Columbus Circle surrounding the statue exhibit. Keystone correction in C1v7.

And the mandatory narrow DoF shot showing off the gorgeous bokeh.

I don't any m4/3 gear anymore, but had the opportunity to test the 75mm on an OMD today.
Here's a shot my sales rep took.
