That gutsy little finch stood her ground against the invasion of classy waxwings but I assume that she was eventually overwhelmed.
Thank you Carl. No, these birds seem to get along just fine. In the following animation the male House Finch stayed with the Cedar Waxwings until the very end. He just moved a little over to the other side of the water dish and finally took off together with the Cedar Waxwings.

GIF animations are typically scaled down a lot in order to keep file size below 100 MP. Also generally only one bird is in focus if multiple birds are in a picture.

This is the detail the camera can actually capture.

I had not seen deer visiting our backyard in quite some time.
It seems water now has dried up in most places.
So our water dish is being appreciated by birds and deer alike.
