In case you did not see it, this is the official logo for the Apollo 50th anniversary

I made a special page for the 50 Year Anniversary -Apollo 11 on the Moon with rare and vintage space photos from the mission. The moon landing marked the culmination of America's Cold War human spaceflight program and positioned itself as a global leader in science and technology. Apollo 11, the mission Armstrong and Aldrin flew with colleague Michael Collins, represented the U.S. accomplishing a seemingly impossible goal on a seemingly impossible timeline. Fifty years later, the world is remembering the historic mission and its impact on society and science.

I find it very sad that we couldn't do this today, just like we can't fly supersonic airliners either.

We should have started on a permanent base there by 1980. Too bad we lost our nerve.
