Aptus Internal battery

I took a few shots of honey whiskey and replaced it. Posted video of it here to help anyone:
Thanks for putting the video together for folks.

I did a couple of backs myself and my recommendation when lifting the boards is definitely to use a plastic tool vs finger nails/screwdriver etc. As mentioned long long ago, I found the iFixit plastic tools essential for popping off the connectors and also lifting the boards each time.

Seems like a lot of work to replace a battery (poor design!). If the internal battery is only for the time & date, I wouldn't bother. Especially with my poor mechanical karma of late. But I wonder if it does affect anything else, are there any techs who work on these backs anymore?

I can understand the reluctance to go through the palava of swapping out the battery but the transformation from a crippled back to the way it was straight from the factory was worth it, for me at least. YMMV.

Yeah, I have a knock off iFixit. I started using the screwdriver/nail and then when to a plastic spudger. I also tried using the spudger to pop out some of the connectors and then realized I needed plyers. There are usually plastic plyers/grips that flex which make things like this easier. My kid didn't have any of those.

I also accidentally grabbed a tri-point at one part in the beginning because my kid put the bit in the wrong place.

Yes, indeed, something is wrong with design of Aptus, because my back is bricked because of blown firewire board. And I have heard so many similar stories. Firewire boards should be a commodity, not.

I wish Phase One/Leaf/Mamiya would release the tools they have internally to configure/write software to the backs and firewire boards, I've heard that Phase can in some circumstances recover them, it just would not be worth the cost for anything other than a AFI back really.
