I'm not a fan of zoom lenses in general but since this 12-50 could not be removed from the kit I gave it a try.

Ario... Close up seems to be the area where the 12-50 really shines. IQ with the lens appears better with CU than at standard distances.I'm not a fan of zoom lenses in general but since this 12-50 could not be removed from the kit I gave it a try.
Hi DavidDon, Excellent stuff, very atmospheric indeed.
Cullen Bay OM-D Kit lens
Don,I would love to be able to see that second stone building image at full res.
So Poignant Matt - couldn't you just buy it and do it up?A couple from the Palouse:

Hi Jono,Hi David
Looks like Sennen back to front! (bet the sea is even colder).
Lovely shot though.
Big Thanks Owing for your donation .. .
How're you liking the OMD?
all the best
Coward - I nearly always go in for a quick dip (even in December in Cornwall).Hi Jono,
I can't say how cold the sea was because I never as much dipped a toe in it on our short visit up there. Did see one hard soul swimming though. We were dead jammy with the weather though, was almost like summer
Thanks to you and lots of others who've donated - fab!Congrats to Emma on her fund raising and tractor run.
Ah! Ffordes - grumpyland! They're really good, but dangerous! The story behind the new acquisition is that we took a small detour to Ffordes on our way up to Portsoy I had just intended to hand in a bunch of Sony lenses for sale there, but innocently enquired if they had any OM-D's in stoThey also had a used 100-300 Panny which I picked up at the same time as I thought it might come in handy for the wildlife.
I'm just down to two systems - OMD and M9. A good pairing to cover most things - I keep meaning to try M lenses on the OMD - R lenses work really well - focus peaking would be nice, but actually the EVF is so good that one can manage pretty well anyway.Anyway, I now am back to 3 camera systems, having sold all my Sony DSLR FF gear. Have the Ricoh GXR plus assorted MF M lenses, the Fuji X-Pro 1 with the lovely fast Fuji AF lenses, and the OM-D with zooms and IS. Can't bear to part with any of them
I think the OMD is fab - and hand holding at 300mm seems to be pretty easy. I've learned to keep AF on the shutter and to 'mash' it - CAF doesn't seem to work that well, but the AF is so quick that it nearly always gets the shot - I haven't tried birds, but certainly surfers. So far very pleased with the OM-D. Took a bit of fiddling to set things up!
Had a nice trip to the May Island yesterday, lots of Puffins. I recall last time I went there with a 200mm zoom on the DSLR and I got birds that filled about a quarter of the frame, so I expected with the 100-300 and X2 crop that I would fill the frame this time - not so, they had got wind of this plan and had moved much further away so I still had to crop.
Cheers
Jono: Thanks! It was a bit too much of a 'fixer-upper'; not to mention the long commute, and the several million dollars worth of wheat farm it was sitting on. Yes, she was. 350mm lens and the tilt-up lcd - very stealthy, except the barista on the right caught me.So Poignant Matt - couldn't you just buy it and do it up?
Nice photos as usual - what a pretty girl!
