GFX 50R vs IQ1 40 or IQ2 50

As to how long a Phase One lasts, I have a 17 year old back that is still in use and works wonderfully. I’m going to guess a GFX would be reliable over the years.

Superb discussion. I want to throw another camera into the mix for additional comparison if I may. Hasselblad H5D-50c and H6D-50C has the same sensor and studio body.

Are you speaking only about camera Live View (display resolution) or IQ1 50 has a better resolution in Tethering live view as well ?
Sorry for my late answer.
The IQ1 50 has the significantly better live view resolution in camera and tethered.

And what about dynamic range ? IQ1 50 got 14 f-stops dynamic range vs 10.8 f-stops in GFX 50R. Do you think IQ really outperforms GFX that much ?

Is it this adapter ?

Thanks!
Hi, You compare oranges to bananas. The DR numbers are taken from different sources using different methods.

The GFX has a few advantages:
  • The GFX system is designed around the small sensor format.
  • The GFX system uses the sensor focusing, that allows more accurate focusing.
  • The GFX system has a focal plane shutter and a short flange distance, so it can be used with almost any legacy lens.
The H-system has leaf shutter and that may be important when using flash. Also, using a back adds a lot of flexibility as backs can be used on technical cameras.

Best regards
Erik
