IPhone Photos

I went for my walk yesterday with a fresh pack of Polaroid 600BW in the SLR670a. Ran through it in half the walk, but I think a combination of cold air and not shielding it properly as it ejected ruined most of the exposures. Oh well. But I was only halfway through the walk ... and these photo possibles caught my eye ... and the iPhone was in my pocket.

Eh? I often don't think of it as a camera, but it can do quite well when I do. ;)

Not I. I use the Peak Design mobile case system, and I hate taking the case on and off all the time. I have a couple of simple grips I use with the iPhone occasionally but don't really find them very useful. The best thing for holding an iPhone steady, for precise framing and exposure, and long exposures is ... a tripod. ;) So I often carry a tabletop tripod and a smartphone holding jig in my bag when I know I might take some photo with the iPhone.

My favorite car ...

1967 Lancia Fulvia Coupé — Panera Bread, San Jose 2025

The project that I took on in 2021 ... to complete the restoration and upgrade of this little car that I'd wanted for most of my life ... was completed a couple of weeks ago. I had always wanted one, but had never had the opportunity to buy or even drive one before. So I have to say with some joy—and relief!—that this little car is everything that my grown-up head and my 12 year old heart had believed it was. Just a kick to drive, a delight in every way that a sporting coupé of its era should be, and remarkably modern in most ways beyond that.

And I have to say as well that the iPhone 15 Pro continues to astonish and amaze me as well with its outstanding proficiency as a camera. Who could really have known as little a 10 years ago that a smartphone camera could produce such remarkable results?

Enjoy, G
