Joe, congratulation receiving your X1D!!

I am one of those who put an order on a 4116 as soon as it was was announced, thinking that I might get it before my regular X1D I had on order (and I do like that sexy black look, and I justified the expense by the extra warranty of the 4116).

Well, B&H just notified me that it has shipped.... just to let you know.

Am I crazy, to pay more for the 4116—it is very nice. I ordered my regular X1d in August, and who knows how long it will be before it gets here.

Eli
Did you get it???

It's due to arrive tomorrow (Tuesday). We have all been waiting a long time.

Eli
Camera arrived (the black 4116)... even managed to put on the camera strap (a bit of a struggle with those leather protectors--no one talks about important things like that).

Now, just waiting for the damn battery to charge 🐢🐢🐢

First reaction--nice... light... really compact and tiny... wow.

Just a question... I put the lens on the camera, and you know how the "H" on the lens is at the 12 o'clock position is you look at the front of the lens. Well, on my lens, the "H" is almost at the 9 o'clock position, which seems kind of off. Does this make sense, or am I paranoid?

Eli

(I am new to this forum; how to I upload photos?)

I don't know if it makes sense, but it appears to be the usual layout.

Your dog totally brought me back down to earth... (as well as looking at other photos, where the "H" is all over the map). It's the product photos, where the Hasselblad "H" placement seems to be obsessive that threw me off.

Now... that damn battery...

Thank you.
Eli
I still think the "placement" of the H on your camera and the other one looks a bit off. It seems that it should be at 12 pm. I wonder if it is a mistake. However, as surprises go, this one is not a big deal.

Take a horizontal shot. I bet the resulting image will be 90 degrees off (tilted) from the horizon due to the lens constructed 90 degrees off from its horizonatl axis, hence the H is off...LOL

I couldn't resist. :). In actuality, I've seen the H in a variety of positions on the 45mm although more often at 12 o'clock position, so apparently there is variation and presume this is normal. I cannot see how this could have any effect but understand your feelings.

The black body looks stunning as does the silver. Best of luck with your camera and lo6oking forward to images.

I am not surpriced,
Hasselblad has pushed for presence in the aerial market before the H4D, full force.
I belive they did before PhaseOne. That does not imply that they are the dominant player.
PhaseOne introduced a dedicated camera before Hasselblad did, if my memory is not failing.
Now both have dedicated cameras. Aerial, from a Helicoper of plane, is a market segment were the extra resolution of digital backs can shine and were price is not a big issue. Newbees coul be lead to believe that is a result of DJI participation. Seasoned people or even people like us , with few years following this market, know better.

Best regards,

If you do a Google image search for the X1D you'll see the position of the H on the lenses are all over the place.

Really weird.

Have y'all experienced the camera getting unusually hot with use?
Please share your experiences and photos when you can.

Thank you very much in advance.

Rick, the camera base gets warm. I haven't found it to get unusually hot or disturbingly warm, contrary to early reports with demo cameras.

We've begun a "Fun with..." thread here.

Thank you so very much. Hopefully, I can rent one soon to determine the shutter lag for myself. Looking at this for weddings and portraiture as well as landscapes and nature.

Any variation in the position at all of the "H" on the lens seems bizarre to me when we are talking about a precision instrument where everything ought be the same, over and over again. The H is just a label, but it is part of the whole precision production process.

I can hope that there is a funny story behind the variation.

The next time the CEO fronts the media, someone should stand up and ask about it - this would make for a humerous interlude between the usual profit/loss, forward sales etc. questions at such events.

Hi,

My guess would be that Hasselblad spent considerable development work on getting power consumption down. Power consumed is dissipated as heat. So it is a dual win!

That development may have been a part of the delayed deliveries.

But it's seems that X1Ds are really shipping in volume now :)

Best regards
Erik
