Hi

I missed vonalpen shutters, but for anyone thinking of migrating to x shutter or aperture – pls. hit me up if you have new quality copal 0 shutters.

I am searching for three.

Thanks
P.

If you are looking to copal 0 to have rodenstock upgrade an aperture or new digaron lens, be advised that they will only use a copal 0 from a rodenstock lens. Apparently there is something different internally that they need (my recent purchase of a brand new 50mm had a nice user supplied by me copal 0 kicked back because rodenstock needed a former rodenstock shutter. And the copal 0 I supplied was unused new old stock but apparently did not have the internal change rodenstock required)

Your best source for mint Copal 0's is eBay, particularly from sales originating in Japan. You have to buy whatever lens is attached as well of course, but regardless you can get them for around about the $200 - $300 mark each if you keep your eyes open. Then you can sell the lens groups on eBay for a few bucks and get back a bit of cash, making the net price even less.

I see folks wanting $500+ for used single Copal 0's but that's nuts, as there are literally over a million of these things out there. And you could (maybe still can) buy a new one for less than that - e.g. at teamworkphoto.

Thanks guys, good input. Yes, idea is to mount some Digarons in copal for hybrid use. I just like the flexibility to be able to pass roll film through these lenses. Rolling shutter would primarily be a problem for fast action, bur for these cases I have other lenses with x shutter.

I often swap the shutter of my Rodenstock HR Digarons (and other lenses).
From very old Compur to different Copals to Seiko to Schneider Electronic etc.
They all have different aperture forms, an important influence on the bokeh.
I never recognized a problem when changing them.
You only have to use the right shim rings from 0.02-0.3 mm.

Ben
