Make sure you buy the MM (18mp CCD) with the newer/replaced sensor. This has a cover glass that will not deteriorate over time. That appears to be the case with the 24mp CMOS version MM2 (ie., better sensor cover glass).I am looking to pick up a monochrom M
could you guys give me your feedback on how the 2 versions compare ?

Hmm, that “non-scientific” study was done by the company that does the conversions on Sony A7r cameras, there may be an inherent conflict of interest.very interesting comparison
ya - I hate the ergos of the Sony and as such have never purchased one.Hmm, that “non-scientific” study was done by the company that does the conversions on Sony A7r cameras, there may be an inherent conflict of interest.
As an an owner and now only occasional user of Sony A7rII, I would strongly advise you against buying it. The lens QC issues and horrible ergonomics tend to suck the joy out of photography. Of course, YMMV, and you may not care about the mentioned issues.
Back to your original question, the following articles compare the monochrom CCD and CMOS:

From what I have gathered the CMOS version is the one to get.
Yes.- is that hogwash ?
Yes.
Who reviewed it?" M9M is a little more film-like than that of the M240 and has less image smearing."
per the review stated above - all I care about is that it is film like
Thank you for sharing this Vivek and for the link to your images on Flickr. I have wanted to try a monochrome sensor camera for a long time. For me, this is a better choice than a Leica MM. I am going to send my Sony A7 in to be converted. Also, take a look at this:
