You can't really judge jpeg performance very easily from any camera in tests like that, because they use the jpeg settings shipped with the camera, and those settings are very adjustable.
"The Sony DSC-RX1 produces superb images, with a fantastic amount of detail, colour and dynamic range. It really is the best image quality you'll get in something of this size."
Yeah, I just summarized the headline I read on Sonyalpharumors and then linked the URL directly to the review, it was just a FYI for another review. Personally I love camera, but only really shoot raw with it, so I not really one who knows or cares about the OOC jpeg quality."The Sony DSC-RX1 produces superb images, with a fantastic amount of detail, colour and dynamic range. It really is the best image quality you'll get in something of this size."

Christmas at the grandparents...
Mark & Joe - I appreciate the comments. I'm definitely enjoying the RX1. I also brought along my A99, and used it for some shots, but the RX1 is so small and liberating, that it's getting the most use.Beautiful photos Mike. What a nice holiday treat.
Thanks Vivek. I was dealing with some difficult indoor lighting in the first shot - I didn't like the color version, but the B&W conversion was workable.Very nice, Mike! One could feel the atmosphere in the shots.
