I went to 'Les Vingt-Quatre Heures du Mans' during the great Ferrari years, 1963/4/5.

So when I saw these at The Louman Car Museum in The Hague I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

Misty memories.

Remembering Lorenzo Bandini.

Isn't it a fantastic museum ?
Even if you're not a petrol-head pur sang, there's plenty to see and admire.

Yes it's an absolute delight, beautiful building, and a lovely walk out through the woods from central Den Haag.

I was there in 2015.

Bart,

p.s. I should have mentioned how much I enjoyed your introduction of the phrase ‘pur sang’.

Bet that’s a first for GetDPI!

it is well known all over the world ... people from Holland (the Netherlands, if you prefer) are very good in speaking french ... especially when they want an orange juice :) :) :)

Last week we were in Bretagne and visited the "la Vapeur du Trieux" in Paimpol and witnessed a nice first departure for the day.

Here's some impressions

1: a 1D1 (2-8-2 in US speak) SNCF tank engine in front of the train

2: Walschaerts (or related) steam distribution

3: Polishing one of the steam distribution rods

4: Awaiting the departure

5: Pre-flight briefing ;)

6: Dry/cold enough air created a nice plume when the engine got underway

7: And some extra coal added to the spectacle

8: More smoke mixed with the steam

9: Slowing down for the first road crossing
