Similarly in spirit to the thread https://www.getdpi.com/forum/4-3rds-cameras/57597-e-m1-e-m5-e-m5-2-etc-peculiarities.html that I started in 4/3rds Cameras I would like to see in this thread a discussion of FUJIFILM GFX cameras, Firmware updates, native and non-native lenses, images taken with them, and related subjects of general interests. In addition to the superb native GFX lenses, there are many other non-native FF lenses with large enough image circles to be of interest for use on Fuji GFX cameras.

Steve Spencer over at FM has two posts, namely

https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1482923/24#14845479
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1482923/25#14849306

in which he discusses a long list of FF lenses that have been explored on Fuji GFX cameras. In the first reference above several lenses of interest to me are mentioned, quote:

"• Nikon Noct Nikkor 58 f/1.2 - Photographylife: https://photographylife.com/reviews/fotodiox-nikon-to-fuji-g-mount-adapter; also jasvyphoto: Jasvy Photography : Fujifilm GFX 50s Lens adoption possiblility
• Leica R 80 f/1.4 - Steve Spencer - good coverage of even 4 X 3 tested at portrait distances but not infinity
• Leica R 180 f/2.8 non-APO - Good coverage of 4 X 3 from f/4 even at infinity Jim Kasson: https://blog.kasson.com/the-last-word/two-leica-r-mount-180s-on-fujifilm-gfx-50s/
• Leica R 280 f/4 APO - Good coverage of even 4 X 3. Jim Kasson: https://blog.kasson.com/the-last-word/leica-2804-apo-r-on-fujifilm-gfx-50s/
"

We (my oldest son and I) systematically explored the Noct-Nikkor 58/1.2 lens on 50S for MFD and Infinity focus distances, with and without a hood, and for all the image ratios the 50S offers. Generally speaking, larger apertures and longer focus distances vignette a bit more, as does the use of a hood. Here are some images, we took with the Noct-Nikkor on the GFX 50S.

@ f/1.2

@ f/5.6

Crop @ 400%, note the reflection of the photographer off the Lady Bug

@ f/1.4

@ f/5.6, vignetting in the corners, potentially lots of Apricots this year.

@ f/5.6

To kick this off I very much like using Mamiya 645 lenses with a Fotodiox adapter on the fisheye, 300/5.6 and the 500. I also have a 105-210 zoom which I have not yet tested enough to know its IQ on the 50R sensor. Will have to look for some images. But here's one taken with the fisheye and cropped a bit.

My answer if the current maxed out iMac Pro is any indication it could be just south of $20k. Keeping in mind it needs a monitor that price could exceed $30k if the monitor is the new Apple 6K one.
Well Lou, your guess is a lot better than the $50k or $60k estimate of the article.

I This new Apple Mac Pro system would be nice to have for the images of the Fujifilm GFX 100, no? :facesmack:

Apple used an unreleased 8K Canon cinema camera to show off its Mac Pro, Pro Display XDR

Question:
What will the fully specced out 2019 MP cost?

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-will-the-fully-speced-out-2019-mp-cost.2184265/

Answer: Beaucoup bucks.
I’ve heard it would top off in the ~$35k range for the computer fully loaded and that’s a lot of money... I don’t wonder if it would be smart for Apple to consider having a lower priced modular desktop option maybe based on the AMD chipsets since they seem to have fewer issues than many of the newest Intel developed chipsets. Also the Ryzen 3 and Navi based chipsets are very competitively priced which could give Apple a non-Pro Mac in the $1500-3000 base price range. Even if they maxed out to around 512GB of RAM and only allowed dual GPU’s, Dual internal HDD expansion, plus the option for the Apple Afterburner... that would be an excellent option for the small business or average content creator with no desire for a Windows machine.

My assumption is these updates enable the GFX100 to PDAF the GFX lenses.
For the 50S and 50R no functionality is added as their sensors don't have PDAF elements.
So after the updates the lenses should function as before on the 50S and 50R though.

In conclusion, the updated lenses can be used on 50S, 50R, and GFX100.

I have my GFX-100 and am trying to update lenses for PD AF, but getting nowhere.

Fuji say to hold down to DISP/BACK button while powering on (with new lens firmware on freshly formatted memory card) to access firmware update screen.
But... I just get a normal startup that way. Can never access FW update screen.

What am I dong wrong here. ?
Thanks

(firmware is just put onto root of card in .DAT format, right? I'm not supposed to put it into a DCIM folder)
