While on the Bonavista peninsula (Newfoundland) we made two hikes. The first was the Klondike Trail in the north between Elliston and Spillars cove. Especially when nearing Spillars cove the views of the rugged coastline are very impressive

12: Cable John Cove

13: A wider view

14: A petrified dinosaur

16: A frozen whale

17: I think a coastline like this explains the large number of shipwrecks around the island

18: The cape between Spillars Cove and Cable John Cove

Thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon so decided to spend the time indoors, dust-off my somewhat neglected A6500 and fit it with my long unused Sigma 30mm DC DN f1.4, to remind myself of how it performs close-up and wide open.

Nice gear porn Keith, is that a 90 macro or a (tele) elmarit. It looks so short. And which one is the oof lens in the background?
The bokeh of your sigma isn't too bad for such a short lens (y)

After this I couldn't resist to post a beauty shot of the oldest lens in our family:

And a "naked" version w/o the FISON hood

Hi Pieter,
Thanks - Front lens is the 90mm Elmarit-R and the rear is the 90mm Summarit-M f2.4. I had a 5cm Elmar (1951 if I remember correctly) for a while with a IIIg (both now sold). Oldest lens now is a 1955 5cm Summicron Collapsible, which produces excellent results on my M10M.

Considering its extremely low price (£268 when bought in 2018) that Sigma 30mm is a very capable performer indeed.

Graham,
Thanks for comprehensive guided tour of Bilbao! Until Covid-19 arrived we were sailing to/from Bilbao in both Spring and in autumn on Brittany Ferries 'Cap Finistere' but on all those occasions we never seemed to have the time to divert into Bilbao itself. Thanks to you I now have a good idea of what I missed! :)
Hah, that's funny. We only had a day there, but it was truly enjoyable. Not enough time to go inside the Guggenheim or see everything, but we covered a lot of ground. Bilbao Old Town is coming up!
