Fun with the Hasselblad 907x

With the "waist-level" display, the CFV II is ideal for very low level photographs like this diminutive orchid (which is just a few inches tall). Not sure the 28P is the ideal lens for small flowers but it focusses pretty close to get a 1/6 maximum reproduction ratio. Burnt-tip Orchid (Neotinea ustulata) in Hampshire, England.

Think of the 28P as the environmental portrait of macro lenses.

I have been using a Hoodman loupe in bright sunlight on the screen since the CFV 50c back. Always works like a charm.
@darr
The shipment of the HOODMAN LOUPE just took two days from the Netherlands (Rotterdam) to my place in south Germany .
That is very very fast .

Darr you are right . The hood works like a charm . I am happy that this thread pointed me to that loupe . I did not even know , it exists .

Here , one from today . I love junkyards . No AI .

Since I got the 100C, I've mostly it with a tech cam, but not with the 907x because I didn't have lenses for it. For a trip to Norway, I got the 45P and rented the 28P. The camera is fun, but I find it challenging to use as a walk around camera.

On a tripod with a tech cam, I use a Hoodman-style loop, which works great.

However, hand-holding the camera in bright sunlight made it hard to see the screen and keep lines straight, especially with the 28P.

To cope, I used the screen for basic framing, planning to crop in post to fix the composition.

Here are a handful of images from the trip, all square and black and white…I really enjoy the built in crop modes as well!

Thank you for the hint to the Hoodman Loupe! It arrived and seems to be very well suited for the purpose.

Giving this thread a bump up so it doesn’t drift into obscurity. I need to post some more images but have been unable to find the time. Soon.

Steve, how do you like the 38mm for walkaround/street? Do you find that you're able to get sharp shots? I have the 55v and have had some issues with handheld on-the-go shooting and sharpness. I'm torn between the 38v and 28p, though the latter may be too wide for my needs.
Thanks!
I've been really happy with the 38V
The 45p was a little longer than needed for street / not as nice as the 38v
The 28p I tried and found to be way too wide for my use (its like shooting 22mm in 35mm FF, where the 38V is like a 30mm)

I would note that the overall weight of the 907x + lens for street walkabouts makes it a bit harder than Leica M, the extra ~300g or so does add up

Thanks for sharing your insights! Yes, the weight is somewhat of a concern. The new Leica Q3 43 is awfully tempting as a travel/street camera, but I'm not sure I can justify spending almost 2x the price of the 38v on a new camera.
Arguably if you are contemplating XCD 38V, then you'd want to cross shop the Q3 28mm though?

Yes, potentially. I sold my Q2 when purchasing the cfv100, and it was certainly hard to part with. The new APO lens is very intriguing. I don’t mean to take this thread off track. In the meantime I’ll keep enjoying your photos until I bite the bullet on the 38v!
