Filter Holder for Phase/Schneider 28mm lenses

Phase One announced a new filter holder for the Phase One 28mm D and Schneider 28mm LS lenses. It's Lee compatible and sold only through Phase One dealers like Digital Transitions.

Doug, that is a good move from Phase. I am assuming it takes the 150 x 150 Lee filters, same size as the kit used on the Nikon 14-24?

If so, no big Stopper or CL-PL, but you might be about to still use a sheet CL-PL in front, i.e. the glass ones from Schenider or Tiffen in the 5.65 x 5.65.

Glad to see they address this issue. Sadly a bit to late for me.

That is a great idea. Nice to have this for that lens

Unlike the Cokin Pro (which has been discontinued and mounted with 4 screws to the actual hood), this design will have a clamshell design, with one piece mounting behind the hood and then the front piece mates to it. It looks just like Lee's 14-24 setup and very well may be the same unit, with some slight modifications to it to fit the new hood of the 28mm. For sure the back piece will have to be different. The filters mount just like Cokin 2 in the front of the slim or 1 thick. This setup is very secure once mounted, (I base this on my experience with both the Cokin on the Phase 28mm and the Lee setup on a 14-24). The Cokin solution was not a good one IMO as it scratched the hood and the screws could easily crack the plastic. I quickly took Tim Ernst's advice and modified mine to slip on from the front.

I still have some of the old Cokin Pro resin filters and all of them at the time I purchased suffered from a Magenta contamination, so far all of the Lee filters I have purchased in the 150 x 150 size have not had this issue.

Lee makes all types of grads, solids, in the 150 x 150, just no CL-PL (needed for your AF to work) or the classic 10x big stopper. Hopefully this might get them to finally make the big stopper in the 150 x 150 size. Lee's only issue is it takes forever to get their filters/mounts.

Looks interesting although they haven't fixed the potential problem of reflections on the back of the filters. I remember that Baxter built this same outfit a while ago and that was the issue then and unless you put some form of ***-gasket around the hood it'll still likely be an issue depending on the light direction.

    I may still succumb ...

What a coincidence it's almost exactly 2 years since I posted this

    http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/medium...-one-28mm.html

    - quite a massive R&D project on their behalf to come up with something so original.... I am relishing the prospect of Phase One offering me the upgraded DF body and an IQ 160 or 180 as my consultancy fee.
