    Transit of Venus

A couple from a few hours ago....both with a77, neutral density, 70-400 with 1.4X converter. The second one is distorted through the atmosphere so Venus doesn't look like a sphere.

Not actually all that exciting but even my grandchildren will probably have passed on before this happens again!

Nice Bill.... I was asked if I was going to take a photo of that but I just did not want to risk my sensor.

    Re: Transit of Venus

Nice images Bill. I saw it thru my own eyes briefly this afternoon (thanks to a fellow employee who had set up his binos and telescope with a solar filter).

Great to experience this historic event, knowing just a little about the significance of the Venus transit in the history of astronomy.

There are very few people alive today who will see this event 105 years from now.

Love the 2nd shot Bill. Here's my version taken a few miles south, just as the sun set on Lake Erie (K-5, 67 500mm f/5.6 @ f/32, 2x extender):

    Yep, spectacular event.
I grabbed a few, and have posted one in the Fuji forum.
