About a week ago Steve Hendrix gave me the chance to use a Hy6 and a H3D. Echoing everyone else, I think Steve is great and it was good to meet him in person.
Unfortunately, I didn't like the ergonomics of the H3D which seems not aimed at using a Waist Level Finder. Aside from the lack of metering with the WLF, the grip is positioned for eye level use only.
I was very happy with the ergonomics of the Hy6. Wish it was as well integrated, refined, and as inexpensive as the H3D 31, but very impressive considering it's a new design.
One thing I noticed with the Hy6, which may also be true with other MF cameras, is that DOF preview is actually useful. I always thought it was a great idea, but in my 35mm experience the viewfinder is always too dark to show the range of in focus areas. On the Hy6, DOF was clear in the viewfinder, and more easily seen than on the review screen. I think DOF Preview could become a regular part of my picture taking with the Hy6.
Best,
Mitchell
