Sony A7/A7r with old lenses

When Sony announced the new A7C, I was intrigued. What's not to like about a full frame camera this compact? It had its shortcomings of course, but I think many have been addressed with the A7C II, and the A7Cr is an impressive box. So, with my M11 back in Germany ever since getting doused on the Oregon Coast in November, I figured what the heck! I ordered the A7Cr yesterday. It arrived today, as did the email from Allstate telling me my repaired M11 is on its way back to me. See, that's why you buy an umbrella. Anyway, here is the A7Cr sporting the TechArt Pro adapter and a Light Lens Lab Speed Panchro II in all brass. It's a nice combo. What's not to love? All the compactness of a 60mpx rangefinder and all the joy of those Sony menus!

There's a lot of talk on the Leica forum about the desirability of an M11E, i.e. an M11 with an EVF instead of a rangefinder. Some people dearly want one, for others it's like swearing in Church and the real purists say it can't happen since the M (in M11) stand for "Messzucher" (Rangefinder). But I agree this combo comes close, the viewfinder opening is in the right spot and no prism bulge (with or without a real prism), the body is M-style slim, only the grip might be a bit too thick for the real M body affectionados

Yeah, it doesn't make me want to get rid of my M11 [thankfully due back tomorrow from repair after a rainstorm] or my M6, but it's a pretty slick backup. The Sony guys all complain the handgrip is too small, especially with larger lenses [and that probably makes sense], but I have found it quite suitable for the smaller stuff. With the TecvhArt Pro AF adapter, it's been a blast trying out my new Light Lens Lab Speed Panchro and the 35mm 8-element. It even works with the Canon 1.4/50 LTM! And there 61mpx sensor is quite nice. I owned that exact same lens! It came with my Practica of around 1958 or so. Preset diaphragm screw mount. I only had two lenses at the time, the other lens was a Meyer 100mm Primoplan. Wish I still had both.
