In Los Angeles with the DF using the 58/1.4g and 24/1.4g.
Love the D4 sensor.
I feel awkward using the camera and I'm not very fast at making adjustments.
Hopefully I will get better.

The reason I stopped shooting Nikon (last cam was D700) was because of a tricky yellow 'cast' in late evening light. Now this shot looks rather like it's still there? But of course, not having been there it's hard to be sure.

There seems to be a much more neutral balance to this camera's sensor...what you describe is the reason I left Nikon...loved Sony....just not a lot of ZA glass - well a few select lenses but not a wider range of exotics. I have heard one person mention an improvement in Nikon yellow bias even on the older bodies with the Nano coat lenses.
The picture in question was indeed that yellow from very early morning and a weird choice of yellow paint for the windmill. It was used on a lot of the buildings in the train yard and when early, late or with overcast conditions really is an almost gourd yellow color...not lemon.
Here is another example....
I do think that the overall balance is now very neutral but that the somewhat strong color saturation exaggerates any potential yellow source...an example is the Gingermen and Stuff pic above where the table is a bit too honey colored.
This picture is of a caboose in a very strong yellow/red that shows this tendency:
However looking for the yellow bias of old, I was heartened by this pic which is about as dead neutral as possible...shot maybe 20 minutes after the Aero and Smith picture.
The brown and yellows pretty much rendered as they appeared to me that morning.
I would recommend that you trial the camera if at any point you think you may be interested in one...as a caution they are still a bit bigger than the m43 and Pentax K cameras.
Not sure if I elucidated much with the above other than to say I am pleased with what this camera delivers...I do need to shoot some portraits and people shots to look at skin tone rendering. From what I see with the camera I suspect it will be great with a mild drop in saturation of colors.

+1! Both Joe's and Bob's images really demonstrate a lot of the positive attributes of this camera's potential, not to mention the lovely imagery they posted themselves. Nice!

The newer Nano coatings produce a more "blueish" file than the older lenses. I have a 135Dc and when I shoot it next to my 85/1.4 nano coated G lens ...the difference is obvious . Its not all the coatings as Nikon s CMOS sensors tend toward yellow green (compared to CCD) ..but my wife's D600 shows almost none of this bias .
Can anyone compare the viewfinder to a D800???? My guess is they are identical but I am hoping for some improvement .

So I found a hack to import Df RAW files into LR....does not seem to work with C1
Here is a conversion of the overly saturated yellow file from NX2 ... looks not to be a sensor issue but software....as LR renders this file pretty close to neutral.

These images look VERY natural. They look "Analog" as compared to looking very digital. They look much better than the renderings I got with my D800E, IMO.
Color me impressed. I hated the look of this camera at first. But after seeing these images, it's growing on me...

I realized that I did not look at the camera...looked through it...at that point a D4 chip in a smaller body sold me on the camera.
And it looks better by the day!

I checked Capture 1 and didn't find the DF on the list of supported cameras. Is it supported?
I use mainly LR5 and there's no support for the DF yet. I do have Capture 1 express 6 and would buy 7 if it supported it.
I received my DF yesterday and love it but the supplied view NX is terrible. Matter of fact it's pathetic. The camera can't even get close to its full potential until there's raw support in LR and C1.
As to the camera I'm very pleased. I've been a nikon user in my work since 1970 and the DF feels so familiar. The fit and finish is excellent and image quality for in camera jpg and tif files is very good. If the jpgs look this good the raw images will yield very fine images. I'm especially pleased with the ease of switching between between current G glass, AI and non AI lenses. Great job nikon!
The only changes I'd make if I were the designer would be to change or make possible for the user to change focusing screens. I'm one that likes a split image with microprism collR around it. Thinking about it it might be due to the ability to maintain precise positioning of the focusing screen to maintain accurate focus. It also may be due to losing the ability so see some of the focus points with Splitcwedgs right in the center. The provided screen seems to be the same as my D800. It's not terrible but it could be improved. The only other thing is the razor wheel. I didn't like them on the RF bodies and I don't care for them now. It would have been a big improvement it they had made the same type of wheel as I the D800 and other bodies. Again it's no big deal but it seems awkward to me.
Other than these minor changes so far I think it's near perfect.

They look very diffent to NX2!
But powerfull, less saturated indeed, a bit harder(bit more contrasty)(perhaps just a matter of lifting the shadows a bit) (and I guess more like real life perhaps, allthough some of the soft rendering in NX2, was very pleasent too), and Black is more Black (one can almost feel the texture/surface)

i dont know if its just the photographers and post processing but Inadmit that the files in this thread look very good,rich iMO.
I still have some Nikon lenses.... if I did not have the 5d I would like to check outthe df. And if I could testrun one I would happily shoot it side by side with my Canon and see which camera I like better. I think they should have offered the D4 sensor in a smaller body earlier.
